Established black techniques/aesthetic
After researching Earnie Barnes’ piece titled “Sugar Shack”, my interest was in the difference of body language of black people. In the paiting, they have eccentric and fluid motions about them that make their movements seem elastic. In dances such as the milly rock, stanky leg, krump, jerkin’, snappin’, the shmoney dance, the cha cha slide, harlem shake and the “crank dat”, are dances in the past 30 years that have continued the legacy of this distinctive style of body movements.
